Cultural organizations are always focused on making sure our attendees have a good experience. As we’re seeing across the country and across the globe, increasingly that means ensuring we’re providing a safe environment for our patrons. While we can’t predict every situation, there are steps we can take to reduce the likelihood of an event, and if something does happen at our venue or event there are plans we can have in place to minimize risk to our guests and staff.

In a safe, private environment we learned from the experts about these important topics:

  • Threat by the Department of Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis
  • Security – Protective Measures for Public Gatherings by the Department of Homeland Security Office of Infrastructure Protection
  • Emergency Plans & Planning by the NYS Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services
  • Active Shooter, “The Coming Storm” by the Federal Bureau of Investigation
  • Improvised Explosive Device (IED) / Vehicle Borne IED Recognition by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office
  • See Something / Say Something, Suspicious Activity Reporting by the NYS Police Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit
  • City of Buffalo Security Initiatives by the City of Buffalo Fire Department and Police Department
