The Art of Pursuing Grants: Empowering Entrepreneurs in the Arts

An exclusive workshop series designed to empower artists like you in navigating the grant process with confidence. Sessions are led by multi-award winning entrepreneur and artist, Aitina Fareed-Cooke who, within the last 5 years, has secured over $300k in a variety of funding opportunities for a plethora of creative projects!

This workshop series is open to emerging and mid-career creatives of any discipline who are interested in advancing their artistic practice and impact. You will need to fill out an online application form and submit it by January 19, 2024. You can find the application form and the eligibility criteria below.

THE DETAILS

This 6 session workshop series will take place over three weeks in March 2024:

  • Tuesday, March 5th (Meet and Greet Session)
  • Thursday, March 7th
  • Tuesday, March 12th
  • Thursday, March 14th
  • Tuesday, March 19th
  • Thursday, March 21st

Every session will run from 5:00 – 7:30 pm. A light dinner will be provided for all selected participants.

All six sessions will take place at 500 Seneca (500 Seneca St, Buffalo, NY 14204) in the fourth floor “Community Room.”

Thanks to the generous support of Arts Services Inc., this workshop series is offered at no cost to the chosen participants who pass the panel selection process.

AITINA FAREED-COOKE

Aitina Fareed-Cooke was told at a young age that she would be a “failure to thrive” as a result of her biological mother’s addiction to drugs. As a result, she and her two older siblings were placed into the foster care system and due to substance abuse their mother passed away. Despite being labeled emotionally handicapped by the system, Aitina refused to be defined by it. Instead, she found solace and empowerment through her faith in God and her voice within the creative arts, rewriting her own narrative. Her unwavering commitment to her family and community became a testament to her resilience and determination. Continue reading.
