As 2025 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a year shaped by creativity across Western New York. At Arts Services Inc. (ASI), our work is rooted in supporting artists and arts organizations and this year’s impact was made possible by the continued trust, collaboration, and engagement of our creative community. Thank you!

From grant funding and fiscal sponsorship to professional development, public art, and Arts Access, 2025 was a year of meaningful investment in the people and projects that make our region vibrant. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights that defined the year.

GRANT FUNDING

Providing financial support to artists and arts organizations remains a cornerstone of ASI’s mission. In 2025, we distributed $360,000 in grant funding to 78 recipients, including 26 individual artists and 52 organizations, helping bring creative ideas to life across the region.

Funding was awarded through ASI’s core grant programs:

  • Creative Impact Fund – Supporting arts programming, the creation of new work, and artist residency sponsorships for both individuals and organizations.
  • Give for Greatness – Providing flexible funding to strengthen organizational capacity and sustainability.

Together, these investments supported everything from performances and exhibitions to residencies, educational programs, and community-centered arts initiatives. They reinforce the essential role creativity plays in Western New York.

FISCAL SPONSORSHIP

ASI’s fiscal sponsorship program continues to be a vital resource for artists, collectives, and emerging organizations. In 2025, we supported 118 fiscally sponsored projects, including 86 individual artists and 32 organizations or collectives.

Through fiscal sponsorship, participants can access grant funding, accept tax-deductible donations, and receive financial and administrative support without needing to establish their own nonprofit status. Beyond compliance and bookkeeping, ASI provides guidance, technical assistance, and connections that help creative projects grow sustainably and with confidence. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Building a strong, resilient arts ecosystem means investing in people. In 2025, ASI hosted 47 professional development sessions, reaching 1,214 participants through both virtual and in-person opportunities.

These offerings included:

Together, these programs strengthened skills, encouraged collaboration, and supported long-term sustainability across the sector.

PUBLIC ART PROJECTS

Public art plays a powerful role in shaping shared spaces and strengthening community identity. In 2025, ASI facilitated three Calls for Works, creating new opportunities for artists to engage with public spaces throughout Western New York.

Among these calls, was the Hertel Alley Mural Fest. Thanks to the generous support of Councilmember Joel Feroleto’s office, North Buffalo’s hidden Hertel Alley is transformed, bi-annually into a vibrant canvas filled with live painting, creative activities, and bold new murals.

ARTS ACCESS

ASI remains committed to ensuring that arts and culture are accessible to everyone. Through the Arts Access program, we partner with 62 cultural organizations across the region to offer free or low-cost admission to individuals and families facing financial barriers.

In 2025, the program served 4,532 Arts Access passholders, connecting thousands of community members to performances, exhibitions, and cultural experiences. Arts Access continues to be a key pathway for equity, inclusion, and community connection through the arts.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2025

As we look toward 2026, ASI remains focused on deepening our impact, strengthening partnerships, and responding to the evolving needs of Western New York’s creative community. We’re excited to continue expanding access to funding, learning opportunities, and creative experiences all while advocating for the essential role of the arts in our region’s future.

Thank you to the artists, organizations, partners, funders, and supporters who made 2025 such a meaningful year. We’re grateful to be part of this creative ecosystem and look forward to what’s ahead.
