Grant on Grants 2025

Ready to level up your grant game? Our Grant on Grants workshop series is returning with a focus on arts and culture program funding—and this year, we’ve crafted two unique experiences to match your style:

Option 1: “Peek Behind the Curtain”

These workshops are designed for anyone looking for an overview of grant making, some grant writing tips, and seeing examples of applications. Participants will go through a mock panel process to experience the back end of funding.

Option 2: “All In”

These workshops are designed for anyone who wants to practice writing or share a work in progress and receive feedback. Participants will receive tips on grant writing and budgets, and will experience the panel process while getting real-time peer feedback on their project application.

Who Should Attend?

These workshops are open to nonprofit arts and culture administrators and artists across all disciplines. Whether you’re new to grants or looking to refine your skills, you’ll walk away empowered to create stronger funding requests.

Who is this workshop for?

We welcome nonprofit arts and culture administrators and artists from any discipline to these workshops. who may have different degrees of familiarity with writing operation grant applications. We will cover basics like best practices for those who are less familiar but because the mock application and panel are based on real WNY grant opportunities, this workshop will be beneficial to those with previous experience to gain insight into region-specific nuance.

I’m not sure which experience is right for me.

We are offering two workshop experiences depending on how hands-on participants wish to be.

Peek Behind the Curtain is designed for those who are new to grant writing or want a quick refresher. This will be a more passive experience that allows participants to see the back end of the process without requiring participants to contribute.

All In is designed for those who have applied to grants or are planning to start and who want feedback on their work. This is an active experience where participants are not only sharing an application, but are actively sharing feedback with other participants.

What should I bring?

A wi-fi enabled laptop or similar device is required. If you do not have access to one, please email “[email protected]” after registering and one can be provided for your use during the workshop.

How many participants will there be?

Peek Behind the Curtain workshops will be capped at 20 participants and All In workshops will be capped at 10 participants to ensure individualized training and to facilitate productive group discussion.

What should I wear?

We invite participants to dress comfortably.

Will I need to stay the whole time?

The workshop will cover the entire life cycle of the grant writing process from start to finish and, due to that nature, participants are asked to be present for the entire duration of the workshop.

Please tell me there will be breaks!

There will be several built in breaks, including one for lunch. Lunch is included with registration.
