After the overwhelming success of our first round of “Grant on Grants” workshops, ASI is proud to invite nonprofit arts administrators to another round of five grant writing workshops.

During the workshop, you’ll walk through the entire life cycle of a grant; from initial application to final panel, using a mock application modeled on real-life examples. In the mock panel discussion, you’ll learn what your peers look for when they’re reviewing applications and experience first-hand what makes an application stand out. Lunch and light refreshments are included.

NEW: We listened to your feedback and have added additional designations for each workshop to ensure that every participant finds these workshops valuable. There are now “Beginner,” “Intermediate,” and “Advanced” categories offered to meet everyone where they are with their current skill set but the bulk of each workshop will largely remain the same. Please note that these are not sequential and participants should choose the 1 workshop that best represents their current skill level. We encourage everyone to self-assess which level is right for them.

If the workshop that you would like to attend is full, please email Holly at “holly@asiwny.org” with your preferred workshop date to join the waitlist.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if the workshop I want is full?

If the workshop that you would like to attend is full, please email Holly at “holly@asiwny.org” with your preferred workshop date to join the waitlist.

Who is this workshop for?

We welcome nonprofit arts administrators from any discipline to these workshops who may have different degrees of familiarity with writing operation grant applications. We will cover basics like best practices for those who are less familiar but because the mock application and panel are based on real WNY grant opportunities, this workshop will be beneficial to those with previous experience to gain insight into region-specific nuance.

Due to high demand and to create realistic mock panels, we ask that only one representative per organization register for this round of workshops. The representative registering should be responsible for grant writing for opportunities like Erie County Arts & Cultural Funding, NYSCA, and the Ralph C. Wilson Arts & Cultural Initiative for your organization.

Can you explain beginner, intermediate and advanced?

There are now “Beginner,” “Intermediate,” and “Advanced” categories offered to meet everyone where they are with their current skill set but the bulk of each workshop will largely remain the same. We encourage everyone to self-assess which level is right for them.

BEGINNER: We’ll spend more of our time on the basic mechanics of grant writing and demistify what goes on behind the curtain in funding decisions.

INTERMEDIATE: We’ll focus in on learning how to tell your organization’s story in an impactful way which is a skill specific to operating grants.

ADVANCED: We’ll dig into specifics about what can make or break an application, especially for organizations that have had mixed results on prior grant decisions. This workshop will rely heavily on prior knowledge of operating grants.

What should I bring?

A wi-fi enabled laptop or similar device is required. If you do not have access to one, please email “holly@asiwny.org” after registering and one can be provided for your use during the workshop.

How many participants will there be?

Each workshop is capped at 8 participants to ensure individualized training and to facilitate small group discussion.

What should I wear?

We invite participants to dress comfortably.

Will I need to stay the whole time?

The workshop will cover the entire life cycle of the grant writing process from start to finish and due to that nature, participants are asked to be present for the entire duration of the workshop.

Please tell me there will be breaks!

There will be several built in breaks including one for lunch. Lunch is included with registration.
