Welcome to DEIA 101 with Say Yes Buffalo’s Human Resources Director Collin Gehl.
In this virtual presentation, Collin will cover the fundamentals of DEIA, present a roadmap on how to create and implement a DEIA program at your organization and give examples of what a successful program could look like.
As a part of ASI’s “From the Ground Up” series, this presentation will cover the basics and is recommended for small to mid-sized nonprofits who do not have a designated HR representative, those looking to start a new nonprofit organization, or for those interested in becoming an arts administrator.
This workshop is free to attend and is fully virtual. Participants are able to leave their cameras on or off and participate via the chat or on camera. There will be a short Q&A session after the main presentation.
Meet the Presenter
Collin Gehl has been with Say Yes Buffalo since 2019. In 2021, Collin was the named the organization’s first full-time Human Resources Director. In that role, Collin is responsible for the overall administration of the HR Department. He ensures that the department supports the agency’s strategic and business plans and that the agency complies with all federal, state and local employment regulations. In addition, Collin oversees all agency trainings, agency hiring practices, and the salary/market assessments. As HR Director, he sits on the agency’s Senior Leadership Team, Racial Equity & Inclusion Committee, and Self-Care Committee. Collin recently developed curriculum and facilitated the organization’s Leadership 101 program for emerging leaders within the organization.
Collin has a background in non-profit, being a part of the original staff of the King Center Charter School, but also holding positions at the Buffalo History Museum, the Buffalo Museum of Science and Housing Opportunities Made Equal. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University at Buffalo and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Medaille College. Collin assumed the presidency of the Board of Directors of the Buffalo Niagara Human Resources Association in September 2022, and is on the board of directors for Just Buffalo Literary Center. He is a member of the Emerging Philanthropists of Color (under the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo) and an alumnus of Leadership Buffalo (RL ’04). Collin is also a former board member of Tapestry Charter School.
