So if someone asked your legislator right now which organizations in their district could use additional funding, do you think they would think of you?
It can be intimidating to reach out to a government official, especially if you’re planning on asking for a favor.
That’s why ASI has created a FREE plug-and-play elected official introduction template for you to use to introduce yourself to your elected official with some additional tips to make your letter effective.
All you need to do to use this template is look up your elected official and their mailing address, plug in your organization’s information, sign and send!
Still unsure about why you should get the attention of your elected official? Here are three more great reasons:
- If your elected official accepts an invitation to your organization’s event, that’s a great initiative to invite the press and to issue a press release for additional community reach.
- Community collaboration is huge in WNY! If at any point your official is approached about who might be a good community partner for future projects or initiatives, they will already know you and may suggest you.
- After executives have designed a budget, it will pass over your elected official’s desk before it is signed into effect. Your elected official will have a hard time advocating for additional funding if they don’t know who you are or what you do for your community!
