Happy National Arts and Humanities Month! Established more than 30 years ago by Americans for the Arts (AFTA) in honor of the twentieth anniversary of the National Endowment for the Arts, National Arts and Humanities Month is a coast-to-coast collective celebration and recognition of the importance of culture in America.

According to AFTA, the goals of National Arts and Humanities Month are:

  • Focusing on the arts at local, state, and national levels
  • Encouraging individuals and organizations to participate in the arts
  • Allowing governments and businesses to show their support of the arts
  • Raising public awareness about the role the arts and humanities play in our communities and lives

Celebrate with us!

We’re participating in National Arts and Humanities Month by organizing a 50/50 raffle throughout the month of October (tickets pictured above). On November 1, we’ll announce the winner, who will receive half of the amount of funds raised.

Tickets are $5, and can be purchased at online or with cash/card when you call, email, or stop into our office. For more information, contact Holly at holly@asiwny.org or (716) 833-3004 x512.

#ShowYourArt2019

AFTA is calling on artists of all disciplines to share their art on Instagram throughout the month of October with the hashtag #ShowYourArt2019. With daily themes spanning healing art, education, and what’s on your bookshelf, we encourage Western New York artists to use the hashtag #ShowYourArt2019 and tag us @asiwny so that we can share your art with the region!
