INTERNSHIPS AND VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Arts Access is a program that opens the door to arts and culture for all Western New Yorkers by connecting them to free and low-cost cultural opportunities in their communities. ASI has partnered with local theaters, galleries, and other arts and cultural institutions to offer low-income individuals and their families of Erie and Niagara Counties the chance to see, experience, and participate in live shows and events by providing free tickets through the Arts Access Pass.

The Arts Access assistant helps coordinate Arts Access pass-holder enrollment, research presentations and events, maintain the Arts Access website, book transportation, and manage partner communications. The Arts Access season begins annually on September 1, with preparation taking place during June, July, and August. This volunteer will be working directly with ASI’s Arts Access coordinator.

ASI is always seeking interns to assist with day-to-day operations, including the creation, planning, and execution of a variety of our initiatives and programs. Interns should have an interest in the nonprofit sector, arts and culture, arts administration, business, and/or other disciplines.

Interns would be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of all of ASI’s granting programs. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing grant applicant materials, assisting with professional development sessions, and outreach to potential applicants
  • Outreach to arts and cultural organizations, community groups, municipalities, and others groups that can benefit from any of our granting programs
  • Reviewing draft applications and organizing/delivering final applications to necessary parties and grant panelists
  • Coordinating grant panel reviews, attending grant panels, and administrative work associated with the panel reviews
  • Preparing grant contracts and other necessary paperwork such as panelist manuals
  • Attending, evaluating, and reporting on programs that have been awarded a grant

Interns would be responsible for assisting with activities related to community relations and in some cases serving as the liaison and community contact for ASI. Responsibilities include:

  • Attending and engaging at partner monthly meetings, including the Greater Buffalo Cultural Alliance, Cultural Alliance of Niagara, Arts Partners for Learning, Charity Strong, Board of Directors meetings, and more
  • Attending arts and cultural community events
  • Attending community events unrelated to the arts

Interns would be responsible for assisting the executive director with individual giving campaigns, general fundraising, and other development related activities. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with ASI’s annual campaign and donor relations
  • Managing and maintaining of ASI’s Giftworks database software
